Hello, my friends. I promised to get this post out last week, but ran into minor complications with my timing because packing for my vacation got the best of me. Lol Below is my review of Simplicity 8089.
Btw, I hope everyone voted today!! ;)
Pattern: I used Simplicity pattern 8089 view A. It was a basic pattern with a front piece, back piece and the neckband. The design is supposed to be snug at the hips and loose on top. It is cute for every day wear and to be honest, you could alter this pattern by extending the length to knee length and making a dress out of this instead.
Sizing: I cut the size medium, mainly because I wanted the top to be snug at the hips. I think that I should have made a medium on top and graded down to the Large size in the hips. The difference in my hips and the large size were 2 inches and in the fabric I chose, thought that it might be too loose, but after making it, I should have just left the hips at the size large. Next time I will try that.
Fabric: I made this top using a cotton spandex knit fabric that I purchased from Girl Charlee (as mentioned in previews reviews).
Skill: This top is easy to make. It only requires three pieces to put together. Beginners can tackle this with ease.
Instructions: The instructions are easy to follow.
Adjustments: No adjustments were necessary, however, next time I will cut the medium on top and grade out to the large at the hips.
Final Results: I am happy with the final results overall. As far as the design, I could have done without the extra fabric in the sleeve area (a basic batwing would have sufficed). It’s cute overall.
Styling: I paired this with skinny jeans and my Madden Girl, gray boots. I liked it paired this way for fall but could easily be worn with a pencil skirt or shorts for the summer.
